Wagner Vasconcelos

Wagner Vasconcelos is a drummer from São Paulo, Brazil, passionate about jazz, blues, and various Brazilian rhythms. He holds a Master's in Musical Leadership from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Currently, he plays a lot of Brazilian music in the Netherlands, including samba, choro, forró, and Brazilian jazz. He has had the privilege of studying under renowned drummers such as Zé Eduardo Nazário, Lilian Carmona, Celso de Almeida, Cleber Almeida, Rodrigo "Digão" Brás, Sérgio Gomes, Éder o Rocha, Beto Angerosa, Alexandre Damasceno, and Silas Fherrer.

He has performed at jazz festivals and clubs in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, and Belgium. For over 15 years, he has been a member of the organ trio Hammond Grooves and has played with musicians like Ronnie Cuber (USA), Grana Louise (USA), Jimmy Burns (USA), Hermine Deurloo (NL), Martin Fondse (NL), Mike Boddé (NL), Mike del Ferro (NL), Pyrophone Juggernaut (Australia), Leo Gandelman, João Sabiá, Michel Leme, Vanessa Moreno, Blubell, Tássia Reis, Marcos Otaviano, Igor Prado, Ivan Marcio, Décio Caetano, Robson Fernandes, and many others. He also collaborates with great Brazilian musicians based in the Netherlands, such as Lilian Vieira, Lucas Santana, Elizabeth Fadel, Breno Virícimo, Daniel Montes, Luis Mascaro, and Nelson Latif.

As a teacher and facilitator, he has led percussion workshops in Neuchatel, Switzerland, and Amsterdam, Netherlands, for children, young people, and adults. He has worked with Raw Resonance, Ouvirandô Festival, and his own projects. In São Paulo, he is part of the carnival block Saia de Chita, where he teaches beats, creates arrangements, and conducts over 80 drummers during parades and events in clubs around the city.
