Wagner Vasconcelos

Who Am I

I am a drummer, percussionist, and music educator from São Paulo, Brazil, currently living in the Netherlands. My passion for Brazilian music, combined with experiences in jazz, blues, and other styles, has driven me to explore rhythms from different cultures and share this richness with the world. With over 20 years of career experience, I have had the opportunity to perform on prominent international stages, including festivals and jazz clubs across Europe, consolidating my expertise and exploring musical diversity in various cultural contexts.

My educational background includes a Master’s degree in Musical Leadership from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I developed projects that merge percussion and education to positively impact vulnerable communities. Additionally, I have conducted workshops and led musical projects in places like Amsterdam, Neuchâtel, and São Paulo, creating spaces for learning and connection through music.

As an educator, I focus on teaching drum and Brazilian percussion techniques, covering rhythms such as samba, maracatu, ijexá, frevo, and many others. I believe that music is not only an artistic expression but also a powerful tool for personal and social transformation.

Mission

My mission is to inspire and empower people through music. I aim to promote the richness of Brazilian rhythms and demonstrate how they can connect, transform, and bring joy to people's lives. I believe teaching is more than just imparting knowledge—it’s about creating experiences that unlock each individual’s creative potential.

Through lessons, workshops, and performances, I strive not only to teach techniques but also to foster an environment of inclusion, learning, and collaboration. My experience in musical leadership and education in vulnerable communities has shown me that music is a universal language capable of opening doors, breaking barriers, and bringing hope.

Whether on stage, in a classroom, or leading a workshop, my commitment is to share the joy, energy, and depth of Brazilian music with the world.
